Computing
Welcome to our Computing page. Here you can find lots of information about computing across our school.
Teaching computing at Bowburn Primary School prepares the children for the rapidly changing future. With technology advancing at an unprecedented pace, these skills enable children to access and adapt to a range of digital tools and systems. It also develops important skills that are vital in every aspect of their lives. Equipping children with these skills early on allows them to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Our Statement of Intent
At Bowburn Primary School, our Computing curriculum aims to instill a sense of enjoyment around using technology and to develop pupils’ appreciation of its capabilities and the opportunities it presents to create, manage, organise and collaborate. We want pupils to develop their confidence to investigate, experiment and tinker with a variety software and hardware technologies and apply the skills they learn to the ever developing landscape of Computing and ICT. Through our curriculum, we intend for pupils to be not only digitally competent and develop a range of transferable skills, but also to be safe and responsible online citizens. Our scheme of work enables pupils to meet the end of key stage attainment targets outlined in the National Curriculum as well as the DfE’s Education for a connected world framework. This equips children for life in the digital world, including developing their understanding of appropriate online behaviour, copyright issues, being discerning consumers of online information and healthy use of technology.
Our computing lead is Miss Brownless.
